Climate Change and the 2012 Mayan Calendar : Only The Facts.
At first glance these two subjects look like they have nothing in common and it may indeed appear that the Envirowarrior has lost her bearings - bear with me, because that is the point - the point of the compass that is… due-north, isn’t it?
You mean, Earth’s Magnetic Fields, our collective consciousness, the Sun and of course, Climate Change - all inexorably intertwined with the Mayan Calendar?
You bet… and so much so, that at first, I didn’t know which of my blogs I would put this post on… but that is called a ‘choice point, ’ and part of the point of this post… but I am getting ahead of myself (as usual... and as usual further reading and links in this post are highlighted green).
It would be remiss of me not to point out that you have to be willing to cross a few traditional boundaries that separate science, religion, spirituality and history - as well as allowing some time to read and digest months of research - in order to make sense of the possibilities revealed by the facts presented in this post.
So, to start with, as with all journeys, a small step forward. Some of you may be aware of the Gaia principle, which was outlined in a wonderful post (with great links) by Louis <<here>> Lovelock’s wonderful ‘theory’ has us imagine the earth as a self regulating organism, with her own rhythms and mechanisms for balancing things like pollution. However, the material point remains – how much is too much – and when does that point reach the point of no return, (Tipping Point), and is it likely to eventuate in our lifetime?
All unknowable, unquantifiable quaffing and computer-modelling...
... but perhaps it is here that the Mayan calendar comes into it's own - at precisely the right time - holding some vital clues on how things will be played out and dealt with by the cosmos, and how we may evolve to see ourselves within it, not that i think we can afford to stop fighting needless pollution, but to enhance our quest for new technologies even more; whilst we wait and see.
Following Gaia, (which is only now starting to get the recognition it deserves), the second clue for me, came from a report I read whilst researching my post on ‘Global Warming or Cooling,’ wherein I briefly looked at the cessation of the current solar sunspot activity cycle. We began measuring these cycles in 1610, when the first telescope allowed Galileo to observe the sun’s activity. Since this time, astronomers have become aware that our sun experiences regular cycles of intense magnetic storms – sunspots – followed by predictable periods of quiet. ‘…23 cycles of sunspots have been recorded since then, averaging around 11 years each, the last ending on March 10, 2006.
The sun is currently, quiet … but perhaps deceptively so, because based on observations of intense solar activity from 1986 to 1996, it is suggested that this next cycle, ‘… will be one of the most intense ever recorded, some 30-50% stronger than the previous one, and second only to the intense solar storms of 1958, when the aurora borealis illuminated the night sky as far south as Mexico.’
Now a good Envirowarrior worth her salt must be open minded and willing to look at things from all angles, in order to reveal possible links between seemingly random phenomena, and those self created through our greed, right? Well, my knowledge is by no means complete on either … so as usual, just the facts.
I’m going to let you do the math on this one yourselves, okay?
~oOo~
Keeping all that sunspot info in mind, let’s start with Gregg Braddon at the beginning of this book (the one featured below) and look at the Mayan’s themselves, who '...unlike other civilisations seemed to have “suddenly appeared” here on earth as advanced time keepers, with a technology already in place, rather than through the evolution of it over a long period of time … and just as mysteriously disappeared ‘into the jungles’ forever, leaving us with only the intriguing enigma of their calendar … which we are only just beginning to understand.'
Whilst many theories exist as to the significance of such an ‘end date’ as 2012, most of it in the west, 'dystopic in the extreme' with the Armageddon machinery on full boar… forcing doubt, whilst we all play out horrible mental scenarios of a 101 catastrophic eventuation’s there is little positive to offset it all.
Nothing new there, but the truth is that before the 20th century, it is the Mayan calendar which appears to have been the most accurate method of tracking galactic time - as well as local time - on this planet. In fact, so accurate that it has not ‘slipped one day in over 25 centuries...’
All that hundreds of years before the word "technology' was even recognised?
If we can put our fear of catastrophes aside for a minute, we’ll see that the key to this “galactic timer” is in a 260-day count they called the tzolkin, or “Sacred Calendar,” which is intermeshed with another 365-day calendar called the “Vague Year.” The Maya viewed these two cycles of time progressing as cogs of two wheels, turning until the rare moment when ‘one particular day’ on the “Sacred Calendar” matched the same day on the ‘Vague Year.’
That rare and powerful day would not only mark the end of a small 52-year cycle, but form the marking of an even greater expanse of time, called the “Great Cycle.”
Have a look at the fascinating interpretation of the key harmonics of the Tzolkin, as translated by Dr Jose Arguelles <<here>>
According to this explanation and the tradition of the Mayan priests themselves, records indicate that the last ‘Great Cycle’ began in August of 3114 BC – the approximate time of the first Egyptian hieroglyphics – and ends in the near future, on 21 December, 2012AD. Specifically, it marks the time when our sun and our planet will move into direct alignment with the equator (or direct centre) of the Milky Way galaxy – an event that will not happen again for another 26,000 years.
But what does that mean, specifically where climate change is involved?
Well the truth lies a little deeper in something we think is a sure thing, but in fact is not. The earths magnetic fields and polarities, and our relationship to them; specifically, previous magnetic 'flip-flops,' which have already happened ‘…171 times in the last 76 million years on earth, with at least 14 of those reversals occurring in the last 4.5 million years alone.’
Polar shifts which remind us that although cyclic in nature - like El Nino - not by any means predictable. Our best clue found in the ‘symptoms’ which precede such somersaults - things like dramatic changes in our weather patterns and a rapid weakening of the planet’s magnetic field – both of which are exponentially happening right now, as we head towards our cosmic alignment with destiny in 2012.
Possibly really scary stuff, not to be taken lightly and in July 2004, along with hundreds of gloom’n’doom articles around the world, the New York Times took the possibility of Earth’s magnetic reversal very seriously, dedicating an entire portion of its Science section to describing just what a magnetic reversal will do to us all, confirming that;
Geological measurements soon confirmed the ‘worst,’ showing that the Earth is indeed currently, ‘… declining from a peak of magnetic intensity 2,000 years ago, to a point some 38% lower today. In fact, measurements taken since the mid-1800’s show that 7% of that drop has occurred in the past 100 years alone.’ This will account for many a beached whale, not to mention birds and bees dying, because they are off-course for their usual feeding/breeding grounds?
So what do all these celestial events have to do with climate change and pollution?
Well that’s where this conclusion and final piece of the puzzle had me buzzing with renewed hope for us all, because the question and the answer seems to lie within the minds of us human’s ourselves, our relationship to earth’s magnetism, and our ability to make good choices.
You see, just like the animals who use the magnetic ‘superhighways’ for navigation, we also know from an international experiment in 1993 on magneto-reception, that the ability of our own brains to detect magnetic changes in the Earth, is very real and connects us intimately to the earths magnetic fields too. More to the point; that our brains are “made up of millions of tiny magnetic particles” (Science, Vol 260, June 11, 1993), and that as a result, the earth’s magnetic fields have a profound influence on our human nervous systems, our immune systems, and our perceptions of space, time, dreams and even reality itself!
So it is here, in the melting pot of science, cosmology and religion that we can actually look plainly into the ‘stuff of consciousness,’ and what it really means … and probably the reasons that the term ‘Ascension’ is so casually (yet mysteriously) used besides the term 2012, or Mayan Calendar .. as a race, becoming aware of itself, as if from a long sleep.
But first, let’s take our consciousness a little further, into the mystical, religious and spiritual; additional information has come from people like Geoffrey Ingram Taylor, whose 1909 experiments also proved that, ‘… the presence of consciousness in a room of people affected the quantum particles (the stuff the world is made of) and how it behaved.’ In fact, on Feb 26, 1988 Taylor’s experiment was repeated by scientists at Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science, who not only confirmed the first results but added that, “the greater amount of watching, the greater the observer’s influence on what actually takes place!”
And most excitingly in Princeton University in 1957, when physicist Hugh Everett III carried these ideas even one step further, by advancing the theory that; ‘…if we describe our reality as being influenced by our beliefs, it suggests that if we want to change our reality, we must change the way we see ourselves within it.’ We can only do that, by first taking note of where it is we think we are in the first place.
In a landmark paper that included his Many Worlds Theory, Everett described simple moments in time, when it becomes possible to “jump” from one reality to another, by creating a quantum bridge between the two already-existing possibilities. He called these points, ‘Choice points,’ and we’ve all experienced them personally.
It is also clear that the electromagnetic nature of consciousness plays a key role in how we accept new ideas and change within our lives, and visa versa – but even more interesting when taken from the a perspective that the world’s magnetic ribbons, or the Ley-line-grid, varies in strength, with some places having stronger magnetic Gauss reading than others.
Researcher and writer of ‘Choice Points’ in the book The Mystery of 2012 (see below), Gregg Braddon explains it like this:
So what am I getting at?
Well what I’m trying to say is that we live in interesting times, because it looks like 2012 marks some sort of galactic ‘choice point’ when we can benefit from the experience of 5,000 years of Jewish History, 8,000 years of Vedic knowledge and countless indigenous oral myths and cultures, to partake of a time of great evolution in consciousness and the choices we make for our future, based perhaps on a new persepctive of our place within it?
A time when the galactic machinery and the Great Cycle open a window of great opportunity – which Scientist Jose Arguelles called it the galactic “synchronisation beam,” allowing us to not only see the folly of our consumerist polluting ways, but to finally realise – in a concrete way – that our previous choices of war, depletion of resources, genocide, technology abuse, and fossil fuel technology are not sustainable for another millennium, and that it doesn’t have to mean the end of the world to change it. Indeed no way does the Mayan calendar suggest it either, because 2012 is represented by many symbols, amongst them the serpent eating it’s tail, universally acknowledged as the sign of the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.
Although it is not uncommon for a common enemy (like natural disaster) to bring two opposing ideals together; indigenous, Vedic and Jewish records of the past, all bear witness to the fact that there have always been those to record it and tell the tale, and usually by those who only saw the good in the first place.
So, whilst it may not be a time of “business as usual,” is it really a time to be feared, or do we want to go on polluting and destroying our world and eventually ourselves?
Physics has already proven that: ‘…how we feel about our experience has a direct effect upon what we actually experience.’ And that for our deadline with 2012, the suggestion would be that ‘…if we live life focused upon all the bad things that may happen, we will miss the joyous experiences that may actually keep those bad things from happening in the first place.’
One thing for sure though, we have unlikely had a polar reversal occur in the past with a population of 6.5 billion on the planet at the same time, and certainly not with the majority of them dependant on the technology of power grids, communications, computers, and global positioning satellites and electronic navigation – certainly not during the intense solar flares of 1958, anyway. However, if 6.5 billion people were all positively focused – during a time of low magnetic polarity - that’d be a lot of magnetic ‘glue’ to help the outcome of change in our ascension ‘birth’ into a peaceful clean, greener age of free technologies, wouldn’t it?
Whichever way I look at it, it is just like the universe to throw us a paradox, and let us work it out for ourselves.
The fact remains that forewarning and knowledge allows us the ability to seize the necessary ‘choice points’ needed to make the positive changes we would want to see in our lives and on the planet – especially when we truly realise that every thought we have, matters on a global scale to achieving that end. Now – finally - more than ever.
I guess it is time when we must all ask ourselves wether we truly believe in miracles or not?
Meanwhile : If you are feeling light-headed, remember it is because the Earth's magnetic fields are dropping in strength as the shift winds up (or down) to 2012 ... (resistance is futile) ... please stay calm, remember your towels, and take note of your nearest exist signs incase we are to transcend to the next level - en masse - and in a hurry... just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Think of the magnetic fields forming the energetic ‘glue,’ we can easily see why some parts of the world are slower to accept change than others. Places with stronger magnetic glue (more glue), are more deeply entrenched in tradition, beliefs, and existing ideas like Central Russia. However, in places where the fields are weaker, like Israel, the Suez Canal region, the Middle East and Silicone Valley in West US, where the magnetic gauss measurements are at their lowest, you find places of great change, usually signified through upheaval and conflict.

I followed some writings from Hapgood, who was supported by Einstein, in his theory on the Pole reversal, and frankly, it isn't pretty!
Whatever happens, there is bugger all we can do to prevent it, but at least we can work towards a form of acceptance and spiritual growth through the impending change, if it is indeed as close as the signs of past and present say.

I'm glad somebody read it - people usually run a mile on this one, and yet if the math adds up correctly, it is exactly a positive attitude that will bring about positive changes... I didn't think the law of attraction was rocket science, but then what do I know?
Hapgood has an interesting take, albeit a little dystopic for me - what little I read - I must admit his penchant for doomsday catastrophe ended up putting me to sleep... I am much more pro-active and tend to believe strongly in the power of prayer... If you really want to learn more alternative views on this event, you can hunt down a great little book called The Gaia 2012 Project - Are you ready? by Hwee-Yong Jang, translated by Mira Tyson (ISBN 978-0-7387-1042-6).
I don't really like Einstein's theories either and I think they are only now proving some of his stuff is inaccurate about black stars too... all too definitive for me, I think the universe like to maintain 'choice points' and he only took them away... anyway its a proven fact that the moment a scientists quantifies something ABSOLUTELY, it shifts the instance it's named... and becomes something else. For example: they find a nano-minute 'something' and name it the smallest 'whatever,' only to find something smaller (like the string theory) the next week! phooey, the universe is made of quantum physics - shifting snads of matter, only limited by our imaginations, as we impact directly on this world - perhaps understanding rocket science is easier for some, after all?
Thanks for the feedback Fog, I really appreciated an intelligent take on this from within the virtual walls of orble ...

Belief is like beer - there are hundreds of different kinds and everyone has their favorite. Just because a belief is popular, does not mean it is the 'best' or 'right'.
Congrats on being so open to differing perspectives.
I don't mind what it is that inspires us to make changes to our behaviours, as long as something does.

Thank you for the compliment...always willing to try a new perspective.. or a new beer
Environmentally (and perhaps morally) no truer statement could be made. I am in total agreeance on this one, and totally elated that 2012 may mark that change - finally... and upwards, not to the end, but a new begining. there is so much free energy technology and we need to step up and take it, use it and implement it.
I love your anaogy of beer as belief *L* ...I guess that is the benefit of a belief in reincarnation - its a win win situation, either way, too.
I am glad you enjoyed the read ..and to meet you.

Aww thanks... you know really, it was of your doing because you bought Lovelock up in the first place *L* that was enough for me to fly off into the alternate reality to Armageddon - which doesn;t appeal at all btw (to me either) ... and I just happned to be reading this book on 2012 at the time ... we obviously have much in common.
I really hope you get to track this book down Louie, I think you'll LOVE IT and although it can take time to digest some points...wow ... it really is un-put-downable. In fact, I'm sure that it curves space/time around it...*chuckle* ...I'm positive I saw some crackling sparkley lights last night, just above the top of the spine ...
Loving that you love it too...

Wonderful post. Very satisfying and thougt provoking. I love how you drew together such diverse perspecitives. I especially enjoyed the information regarding "choice" points. Therapists would have been using this for ages. In cognitive therapy, one changes his or her thinking and ultimately the person would change his or her reality. It is a highly successful therapeutic intervention technique. I plan on reading the Mystery of 2012. Thanks for expanding my global horizons friend.

Thank you.
My pleasure, as always... especially this one that covered three of my favourite five subjects in all the world... ((laughs)) I did a fair bit of cognitive stuff and have an intimate relationship with choice points (you can read my response to Raven <<here>> which explains more of the why perhaps)...
I am delighted to say that I think you are one of the people who will enjoy it the most... although some of it takes a little while to sink in, it is fantastic!
I hope your Easter was extra special, and peaceful and filled with sunshine ...

I left a message for you at Raven's post about suicide, after reading there about your harrowing past!!
So, am thinking of you, and think you are one of the precious lights in the world that keep it the place worth habitating and illuminated, with love.
Thanks for sharing your story with us, (on Raven's blog) , and BUY A LOTTO TICKET TODAY!!! (no, am not a share holder..hehe...but you deserve to win!)

*swallowing hard* thank you my friend, I know your own road has had its share of bumps along the way too. How nice now to have met others also limping home and be able to help each other along for the coming miles...share a few laughs and shed a few tears together.
Thank you, your words mean much, that is lottery enough ... but jsut incase, I might try my luck again... not so good so far *chuckle* but then true friendship is worth more than money to me, anyway.

That is the point ...and I think you missed it, try reading the article - slowly - again... it depends on how you think about it : as your thoughts will have the ability to add to the general outcome... are they focused on a positive or negative one?
The laws of attraction : watch or read the movie 'The Secret and perhaps 'What the Bleep Do We Know" to try to understand quantum physics more.

Your comment raises many viewpoints ... all of them personal.
Some would say that because you believe that disaster and doom is the final outcome, you are either (a) propelled to focus on the impermanence of life to ease your transition over the threshold of death or (b) avoid thinking about it?
(a) is easy if you are a Buddhist or believe in karma and rebirth;
(b) is easy if you are an alcoholic.
another problem here is that once you know, you cannot not know... bcuase you would be deluding yourself, No? ...which brings up another problem. Clairvoyance and the ability to predict the future with certainty... it all reminds me of the Y2K bug.
So, you are left to deal with a possible truth and reconciliation to your maker in the eventuality of an early demise... either way, we end up in the same place... however, another viewpoint is that this reality of ours only exists because we think it so (en masse). Perhaps our consciousness as a race/species is also ready to shift to a higher vibration (realising that war, and oil and affluence and money are a maligned system of existence). To do so, the stuff-of-matter will also shift to a new phase.
I agree with you, no loss when you think that the soul lives on regardless... perhaps to reincarnate to a higher earth vibration than the current one?
I hope so.
Enjoy indeed!

I couldnt agree more when it comes to man(un)kind as a whole ... the current systems in play - honouring greed as something worthy of pursuit - well, to me it makes Lemmings look intelligent, and I think the phrase intelligent civilisation is fast becoming an oxymoron (particularly when I look at places like Beijing recently).
The truth is that 2012 may or may not bring the catastrophe's we all see as inevitable (down the pipeline), I agree - but again, with or without a crystal ball, most of us realise by now that something has gotta give.... 2012 seems like as good a time as any?
One thing for sure, we live in interesting times to say the least, do we not?
Thank you for your comment.
Lilla ...
Great post, I was already aware of most of the information you have presented, but I must congratulate you on the excellent presentation of the information. It was very readable and concise. I am however interested to know how you came across the figures for Vedic and Jewish civilization. I'm aware that the Archeological record of the Indus Valley civilization establishes Vedic culture at least as far back as 3-4,000BC (whilst they themselves claim it goes back alot further than this, and they do have some good evidence), whilst the archeological record for the Jewish race really begins around 600 BC, with only some very vague references to the "House of David", or the "Seed of Israel" before that, whilst all references to Yahweh are found in places where Polytheism is known to have been practiced (those shrines to Yahweh that have been found also featured a consort). It seems highly likely that the stories of Genesis and Exodus were mostly borrowed from Mesapotamian / Assyrian & Egyptian sources, .although this could prove to be incorrect. I would love to know what your thoughts are one this. Feel free to email me directly at (theparadigmexperiment@live.c om.au).
Keep blogging, take care.
God Bless,
Hari Om.

I get your point, thank you, but currently the Jewish Calendar is running at about 4,900 something? I agree that it takes its beginnings from Mesopotamia, maybe even Atlantis and Lumeria... so much going on back then and for further reading I cannot recommend The Mayan Code by barbara Hand Clow enough to someone like yourself who is interested in this subject matter.
Thanks for such a great thoughtful comment, and compliment.

The way we treat this earth and it's people is going to be a positive step forward. The baby boomers reign on this planet is coming to an end!!

I like the way you say that the negative age is coming to an end, because inreality (according to the Mayans) that is exactly what is happening!
We are (aprently) leaving the Hell realms and moving into the Heavenly ones of the 5th dimension. What is intersting is that it may be the end of the 3rd and 4th dimensions: that is Life, death, rebirth, karma and reincarnation.
It is certainly an important time for all the souls alive at this time and why there are so many experiencing this level of existance, that is for sure. Unprecendented, well lets just say only every 26,000 years or so...*wink* I am glad to be alive to be a part of it.
As for the doonsayers of geophysical effects of passing through the physical centre of the Milky way... well, alive or dead, for a person who understands that the souls is immortal, where is the problem on either side of the viel?
I agree, the negative era ends and a new age does indeed dawn, but then this is really unlike many other normal dawning (which occurs every 2,000 years or so), this is pretty mega!
C u there in consciousness!
Thanks for your great comment.

I intend on sharing your blog with everyone I know...and I hope that every intelligent person who reads this does the same. It is human ignorance and our inability to change our very core beliefs that will certainly decide our fate. We need to continue sharing information (however untrue some critics may see it) that can help to guide our world into a more peaceful, healthy, harmonious place.
I am unsure why the 'civilized' world is so prone to defeating spiritual knowledge that has existed for centuries. Personally, I am uncertain exactly what may or may not happen in 2012 or any time in the future, but I am positive that unless we heed ancient advice to start working together as a human race we are doomed, and future races will discover our bones alongside those of the dinosaurs.
As a musician, and more specifically as a lyricist, I feel my purpose in life is to continue to educate the human race and encourage a spiritual evolution in all people. I admire your insistence on relating the facts as they are presented and hope that your words continue to reach others.
Again, thank you and I look forward to reading your future blogs.

Thank you for the praise, and honest opinion. I find the simpatico refreshing and will look you up at one of your sites when next i am "surfing..." thanks for leaving your comment.
Look forward to talking more about your lyrics ( I write music), hoping the new year holds all that you anticipate in its outstretched arms... have a good one!

Hi Anon,
I am always worried and curiously intrigued by those who possess such secret knowledge as you do... Let us hope all your sources are accurate. Personally, I think you would have to have blinkers on not to realise that a cleansing of this planet is required and unfortunately humans seem to be the pests that need to be sorted, one way or t'other.
That does not mean, however, that I am above ruling out major shifts in consciousness and people just vibrating straight out of here... just like the Maya.
One thing for sure, we live in interesting times and hopefully, we are the lucky ones who will get to dance at the end of time, if such is our due.
Thanks for leaving your comment and have a good New Year, whatever you do!

I check back to see what's new quite often (you are a great inspiration to me to continue as a teacher of life), and I finally wanted to share some of MelloRoar's songs with you which I have personally written. The two that I am sharing are some of my favorites, as far as their relation to spirituality and changing perspectives. I hope all is well, and hope you enjoy

Splash of light, illuminating
The ways of the ancients its negating [**this particular line may be confusing...by ancients, I am referring to 'old' thoughts which are not wise or humanitarian, not to ancient cultures]
What flows through us was there before
But we shut all the windows and locked all the doors
Now we are coming out from inside our caves
Breathing life from the new paths we have made
Breaking free from our shells we'll watch our consuming
From the eye of the eagle whose lives we are ruining
All we can do is move forward in time
To deliver the promise of redefining what's right
This is our modified design
What flows through us was there before
But we shut all the windows and locked all the doors
Now we are coming out from inside our caves
Breathing life from the new paths we have made
Breaking free from our shells we'll watch our consuming
From the eye of the eagle whose lives we are ruining
All we can do is move forward in time
To deliver the promise of redefining what's right
This is our modified design
And the buildings that climb into the skies
We'll replace them with love
And our minds instead will reach soaring heights
We are the building blocks of time
In a modified design
We are modified people
Oh we are modified people
Sand off the edges and cut down the hedges
Remove all the hate that creates all the ledges
That we jump off in angst from our trials and pains
And material gains that get sucked down our drains
And endlessly circling scheduled days
That create even more of the violent wedges
Between parts of a whole whose lives are dependent
And the cycle persists and our engery is diminished
When will it finish?
So give unto others and they'll give unto you
My world can exist apart from each of you
Its true, I'm modified, too
Critical Mass
A movement is coming to bring us the light
A train that is coming to guide us away from fright
And show us the love that escaped from our sights
If you flow with the waves and you flow with the rhymes
Valves of your heart are all pumping in time
Dreams that take flight shed light on your design
And you'll know in time
We all were given purpose to find and to fulfill
And gains that we can make along will build the world's great hills
We all were given purpose to find and to fulfill
And gains that we can make along will build the world's great hills
Instead of filling up our souls
We're fighting for control, fighting for control, fighting for control, fighting for control, Yeah!
Can you hear the Mello-D?
Can you feel what you cannot see?
Come on people, won't you listen to me?
'So give unto others and they'll give unto you
My world can exist apart from each of you
Its true, I'm modified, too'
should say, 'My world CAN'T exist...'
